Thank You Present’s & Card’s Received

February 3rd, 2012

We are always receiving kind gift from our customers after the wedding who are so thankful of how far we go to help their wedding run smoothly as well as take ever lasting memories!

We recently received a home made chocolate fudge cake with the words Thank You spelt out in marshmallows which must have been the most touching gift especially as the groom had made it on his day off work.  We have also received many lovely bottles of wine champagne chocolates & plants such as orchids.

This week we received a lovely vintage photo album which was lovely and personal and we are very grateful for the lengths people go to be thankful to us.  We love our work and it cheers us up when we receive such lovely gifts and cards from our lovely clients.  Thank you go to all of your past and present for your kind gifts.  Its been our pleasure to be part of your day really xx

Heres a recent example of a thank you card received today from Laura & Chris Ramsay:

“We have been meaning to write for ages to say how much we just loved our album and all the pictures! It is just beautiful and we love looking at it! We have had lots of compliments on it from friends and family too! Our parents are also delighted with their smaller versions! Thank you also for all your help on the day and little tips. You were so great with our little bridesmaid & pageboy and your safety pins came in very handy in the evening when the hook pining up my dress broke! We had the most wonderful day and now the photographs help us remember all of it!” Laura & Chris Ramsay x

TIP: Laura’s Dress as many do broke as the hook was not strong enough to hold the dress up we also find this problem with the tied up dress’s very few survive the night. Ideally bring a needle and cotton or large nappy pins that you can fix in the evening so you can dance without getting your train trodden on.

Wedding of The Year Winners!

January 24th, 2012

Okay finally the result is in and we are proud and happy to say that Elise & James are the WINNERS of Wedding of the Year for An Essex Wedding Magazine!

We shot their wedding in the snow back in 2010 now.  Was a very snowy day & bad driving conditions on the days running up to their day. However the end result was a great set of snowy winter wonderland images! The Wedding was at a church in Wanstead & reception was held at Hylands House in Chelmsford.

Elise sadly lost her mum not long after their wedding so their wedding day was very special for them to have shared it with Elise’s mum and Elise says it was lovely to have some professional images taken with her mum on the wedding day.  Which must be priceless for Elise.

Elise & james have been in the running for This for a year now making it to be a finalist from the first vote for Wedding of the year back in 2011, & today were announced as the Winners.

They Win a 2 night break to Down Hall Country Hotel.

Congratulations to Elise & James xx

Wet Weddings in Essex

January 13th, 2012

2011 gave us a few challenges and the hardest challenge is RAIN! trying to work around it especially when it comes in the summer as isn’t expected.  Yes rain isn’t the ideal weather for a wedding and no one wishes for it!

However your wedding day brings you what it brings! and it’s meant to be good luck to rain on your wedding day!  Maybe that was said by someone who had rain on their wedding day! lol

Well most venue’s have areas for photographs to be taken inside, if the mother nature decides to give you a rainy day.  Before booking a venue it maybe an idea to see the indoor area they would provide for photographs and bearing in the mind the amount of guests you are inviting along with the lighting in the area.  This certainly should be looked at if your planning a winter wedding as its more likely to be cold or wet.

Rain certainly adds time onto photographing a wedding as sometimes we have to move couples or guests around under umbrellas!

We as professional photographs do supply white umbrellas for your wedding day and some are ornate that they can be used in the photographs.

We have several times had to use our brollies in the rain but also in the sun as a parasol and they can look very elegant and make a feature to the photographs.  We have before taken some fun photographs in the rain that can cause a great natural smile from the couple.

The only thing you can do when it rains on your wedding day is smile and laugh!  If you get upset your day will be remembered as the wet rainy day rather than the day we got married.

We tell all our couples to expect the rain and if it turns out to be sunny or overcast (which is the best light anyway) then its a plus.  Its helpful if your wedding day stays dry between the end of the ceremony and the wedding breakfast so we can take your groups outside but sometimes we will have to return just after your meal if its summer time and do a few more photographs! We had to do this last August for Donna & Phil’s Wedding at Crondon Park.

It was dry in the morning but during the ceremony the heavens opened until they sat down for their wedding breakfast!  However by returning at the end of the meal meant we could take some lovely photographs out on the grass at Crondon Park when the sun was warm and low!

Heres an example of a photo at their wedding in the rain:

Other Wedding days that rained were: Aysha & Neil in August at Boreham House however we managed to get some of Aysha & Neil outside before the rain came down the rain stayed until the wedding breakfast again but Boreham House has a great canopy over the steps at the front of the house so provided shelter for photographs to be taken on the steps which was ideal!  Heres Aysha below using one of our umbrellas as it just started to rain!
